If you don't have a long Morocco vacation or want to spend only a short part of your Morocco adventure on a desert trip, go for this two-day Zagora desert tour. It is the perfect short adventurous excursion. This 2-day Zagora desert tour from Marrakech takes you over the High Atlas Mountains and the famous Tizi-n-Tichka Pass to the Zagora desert in the south. On all Zagora desert tours, you will enjoy beautiful views during the ride through the mountains. You can take memorable photos of your group with Berber villages, valleys, and snow-capped mountains in the background. You will visit the two most famous kasbahs in Morocco, Telouet and Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, and you will stop at the famous film studios of Ouarzazate to photograph the film sets. Next, you will explore the Draa Valley, the longest valley in all of Morocco, with its adobe villages, scattered palm trees, a seasonal river, and green oases. You will experience Morocco's historical past by taking the old caravan route. This is the route that the caravans took after crossing the Sahara with precious goods from Mali or Niger. In this Zagora desert and dunes tour, you will have the thrill of a sunset camel ride and photos of your group in their blue turbans, just like the nomads. Later, you can enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner, followed by an evening of Berber music around a campfire. After all the excitement, you rest in the silence of the desert in your desert camp tent. The next day, before heading north again, you will have the opportunity to visit the pottery cooperatives with their unique techniques of exploiting the local clay. The Koranic library is full of manuscripts and a place to marvel at the beautiful art of calligraphy with Arabic script. Both are in the village of Tamgroute. We will end our trip to the Zagora desert in the late afternoon. Experience the majesty and wonder of our very unique range of Marrakech desert tours. And now, check out the tour itinerary below. The journey begins here!

It is a departure at 8:30 am in 4 × 4 from your hotel or traditional riad in Marrakech, taking you through the High Atlas mountains and the famous Tizi-n-Tichka (2260m). From these mountains, the views over the valleys and Berber villages perched on the mountainside – sometimes barely distinguishable from the mountains themselves – are truly spectacular. Then on your trip to the Zagora desert, after crossing the pass, you continue to descend until you finally reach Ouarzazate, where you stop for lunch. Then you will have a glass of tea with us at the downtown office. From there you cross another smaller pass, Tizi-n-Tinfifite, (1660m) before reaching the head of the Draa valley in Agdez. For a short while on this Zagora Desert tour, we go off-road, along part of the old caravan route between the mountains and the river. Passing many villages and gardens, you will get a better idea of the way of life along the oases. Once in Zagora, there is the much-awaited camel ride of about an hour to reach the dunes, from where you can admire the spectacular sunset. These dunes are small compared to others further south and east but are the closest to Marrakech on such a short trip. You can also drive to the camp in your 4 × 4 if you prefer. You spend the night in a luxury desert camp with a private bathroom, king-size beds, beautiful Moroccan furniture, and lamps tastefully arranged to enhance your pleasure in the silence and beauty of the dunes.
If you get up early enough to see the incredible sunrise on your trip to the Zagora Desert, you will be rewarded with the wonderful shadow play on the sand. After breakfast, you head south a short distance to visit the Quranic Library at Tamegroute, which has countless exquisite manuscripts. Another stop on the fascinating tour of the desert is the local pottery of Tamgroute, which produces the green pottery you will see everywhere in the south and also in the medina of Marrakech. a valley, you return to Ouarzazate. A little further, you leave the main road of Marrakech to reach the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou. This kasbah is the most famous in Morocco and is a must-see on any visit to the south. It has been used as the backdrop for many Hollywood blockbusters and was one of the most important fortresses for the old Salt Road trailers. Traders brought slaves, gold, ivory, and salt from sub-Saharan Africa here and then to Marrakech and beyond, so this is an important part of Moroccan history. The Zagora Desert journey then continues along the stunning Ounila Valley Road, giving you a glimpse into the way of life of rural Berbers in the High Atlas. At the top of this road, you reach the Kasbah of Telouet, which belonged to the lords of the Atlas, the Glaoui family. It is today in ruins after the flight of the last pasha of the country following the departure of the French. The most historic buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries are particularly dilapidated. Later, the return to Marrakech on this Zagora Desert tour is along the main road, passing many Berber villages along the river and through the mountains. Sometimes you descend into the valleys to walk along the river lined with beautiful oleanders and fruit trees. The gardens are full of olives, walnuts, pomegranates, apples, pears, and quinces. Berber women and children tend the goats and sheep and climb even the steepest slopes in search of fodder and firewood. The trip to the Zagora desert ends when we reach Marrakech in the late afternoon.

This trip was by far my top experience! From the moment of pick up at the airport, our tour guide (Khalil) was extremely friendly and professional. We were in constant communication prior to the trip which eased my fears going abroad. I definitely recommend this private tour because there’s so much more you can get from the experience that you wouldn’t get on a large tour bus. I went with two of my girlfriends and had a great time. We traveled from CasaBlanca to Marrakech but each day we stayed at a different raid or hotel which was a great experience to see something new each day. Since it was a private tour, many times you can choose to stop at shops or market places or ofcourse take photos(: we also went camel back riding at the Sahara and ATV riding in Marrakech. The food is great, lovely culture, people and country. If you are looking for an adventurous, exotic, Yet relaxing- girls or couples trip? I definitely recommend this trip. I really enjoyed my experience.

We asked for a trekking program in the southern Moroccan desert. DesertBrise Travel has concocted a magnificent program with excellent service. We were taken care of in Marrakech at our Riad, a day's drive to Mhamid with pludierus stop including one in a restaurant with delicious multiole dishes in a fabulous setting. In Mhamid an efficient, friendly and professional team awaited us. Our youngest son of 8 years old, as well as one of his 12 year olds loved their days on the back of a dromedary (which you can ride if you don't want to walk). The meals were delicious (tagine, couscous, sand bread ...) a king's menu in the desert. Camel driver, cook and guide were adorable. Only positive and only one desire, leave with DesertBrise Travel. THANKS

Fabulous trip in the desert of Morocco! Very practical for covering a large distance in a short time. However, we spend most of the time by car, but the landscapes are magnificent. Our guide, khalil, was very pleasant, funny and professional, which made the trip even more interesting. In addition, he speaks English very well, which we did not expect! We recommend this agency!

My friend and I took a 3-day tour from Marrakech, to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes, to arrive in Fez. Our guide khalil made the experience perfect since he is friendly, he spoke French and drove very well on difficult roads. He explained to us what we saw on the road, told us about the customs of the country and answered all our questions. He knew a lot and was very interesting. We saw the most magnificent landscapes, spent an unforgettable night in a Berber tent in the dunes and discovered the Dades gorges which have become our favorite place in Morocco. I highly recommend Morroco Desert Tour, these are well organized circuits that are definitely worth a visit. And I wish you to have khalil as your guide!
