I’m Khalil, a Sahraoui guide born in the desert. What I enjoy sharing on a longer trek is the connection between places. You leave M’Hamid, cross ground that changes beneath your feet and return with a different understanding of the country beyond the oasis. The dunes matter, and so do the stretches between them.
This nine-day route follows Sidi Naji, Erg Zmila, Erg Zahar, Erg Smar and Erg Sedra, returning through Bougarn, Oued Naam and Bertham. Chegaga and Iriki are outside the itinerary. Choose it for successive walking days and the continuity of a travelling camp, rather than a short ride followed by a fixed-camp stay.
The camels carry the main luggage while you keep your day essentials. On firm ground the walking can be easier; loose sand changes the effort. The guide chooses a practical line and divides the day with breaks. You still need the endurance for consecutive days outdoors, and should mention tired feet or discomfort early.
Eight mobile nights make camp life a substantial part of the journey. The team provides the guide, luggage camels, trekking meals, drinking water, tents and mattresses. These are simple trekking camps, not a promise of hotel bathrooms or luxury facilities.
The programme starts and ends in M’Hamid. Arrive before the morning departure; travel from Marrakech and additional nights are arranged separately. Send your dates, group size and walking experience for a quote in euros.
