Morocco tours from Tangier, from the Strait to the Sahara
Arrive by ferry, cruise ship or flight and begin in a city shaped by the Mediterranean, Atlantic and centuries of exchange. Travel first through Tangier, Tétouan and Chefchaouen, then continue to Fes, the imperial cities, Marrakech or all the way to the Sahara—with distances, guides and overnight stops planned honestly.
Plan my Tangier routeFollow the journey southFeel northern Morocco before driving south
Tangier deserves more than a photograph from the car window. Its kasbah, Atlantic outlook and international memory establish the journey; Cape Spartel, Tétouan and Chefchaouen then reveal three distinct northern landscapes and cultures.

Tangier medina & kasbah
Walk through sloping lanes, small squares and whitewashed walls with a local guide who can connect the city’s Moroccan, Andalusian and international layers.

Cape Spartel
Stand above the Atlantic near the north-western edge of Africa, then follow the wooded coast back toward Tangier.

Tétouan
Discover an Andalusian-rooted medina and white city that feels very different from Tangier and Chefchaouen.
Four journeys begin at the same northern gate
The best route depends on whether northern Morocco is the whole trip or the opening chapter. We use one-way circuits whenever possible so your days reveal new places instead of repeating the same highway.
Northern immersion
Tangier, Cape Spartel, Tétouan, Chefchaouen and the Rif—no rushed Sahara promise.
North & imperial Morocco
Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Fes, Meknes and Rabat with a finish in Casablanca.
Cities to the Sahara
Travel through Fes and the Middle Atlas to Erg Chebbi, then cross the south toward Marrakech.
The complete country
North, imperial cities, desert, kasbah valleys, Marrakech and the Atlantic coast.
Driving time shapes the experience
These are planning ranges, not promises. Traffic, ferry formalities, mountain weather and stops change every day. We protect time for walking, lunch, guides and the places between the famous names.
Tangier to Chefchaouen; a good first road day after a rested arrival.
Tangier to Fes direct, before stops; better through Chefchaouen when time allows.
Tangier to Rabat on the faster Atlantic corridor.
Fes to Merzouga with cedar forest, Ziz Valley and meal stops.
Tangier to the Sahara should unfold through Fes—not as one exhausting transfer.
The places become chapters, not checkboxes
Every route combines guided city time, scenic road sections and nights in locations that improve the next day. The images and labels below identify the real places you will experience.
ChefchaouenThe Rif opening
Leave the Strait for green Rif foothills and Chefchaouen’s blue medina. Tétouan can be a guided stop or overnight, while Chefchaouen needs unhurried evening and morning light.
- Local medina guide when requested
- Time for Plaza Uta el-Hammam and quieter lanes
- Possible finish in Fes on the following day
FesThe imperial bridge
Cross from the Rif into Morocco’s historical heart. Roman Volubilis and sacred Moulay Idriss prepare the story before a full guided day inside Fes el-Bali.
- Volubilis archaeological visit
- Licensed Fes medina guide
- Craft districts, madrasas and panoramic viewpoints
RabatThe Atlantic capitals
Follow the Atlantic through mural-covered Asilah to Rabat’s Oudayas, Hassan Tower and calmer capital rhythm, with Casablanca as a practical flight finish.
- Asilah pause or overnight
- Rabat with meaningful guided time
- Airport-compatible finish in Casablanca
Erg ChebbiAcross Morocco to the dunes
The Sahara is possible from Tangier when it is treated as a national journey. Travel south through Fes, cedar country and the Ziz Valley before reaching the dunes, then continue west through Todra, Dades and Ouarzazate.
- At least eight days; ten or more feels better
- Desert camp selected by comfort and location
- Finish in Marrakech without reversing the entire route
What your available time can honestly hold
More stops do not automatically make a better journey. We protect two-night stays where a city deserves a guide and remove detours that would turn the trip into a sequence of luggage and windshields.
Tangier, Tétouan and Chefchaouen, or Tangier with Asilah and Rabat.
Northern Morocco plus Fes, Meknes, Volubilis and Rabat/Casablanca.
One-way Tangier–Fes–Merzouga–Marrakech journey at an active pace.
Balanced north-to-south circuit with desert, valleys and proper city time.
Add Essaouira, slower stays, food experiences, hikes and flexible rest.

DesertBrise coordinates ferry or airport pickup, northern guides, private transport, riads, desert camp and final departure as one continuous journey. Our family roots are in M’Hamid El Ghizlane in Morocco’s deep south, and our operating network reaches Tangier, Tétouan, Chefchaouen, Fes, Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech and the Sahara. That north–south experience lets us tell you when a route is beautiful, when it is too long, and where one additional night changes the entire trip.

Questions about starting in Tangier
Can you meet us at the ferry terminal?
Yes. Confirm whether you arrive at Tangier Ville in the city or Tangier Med, which is farther east, and share the vessel and expected arrival.
What if the ferry is delayed?
We monitor the information available and keep contact by phone or WhatsApp. The first day remains flexible when a sea crossing is involved.
Is Chefchaouen a day trip from Tangier?
It can be, but an overnight gives you a calmer evening and morning. For longer Morocco tours it works naturally between Tangier and Fes.
Can we visit Tétouan and Chefchaouen together?
Yes, especially over two days. Trying both plus Tangier in a single short port call usually reduces each place to a rushed stop.
How many days from Tangier to the Sahara?
Eight days is a practical minimum for a one-way journey through Fes to Merzouga and onward to Marrakech; ten or more gives better balance.
Can the tour end in Marrakech or Casablanca?
Yes. One-way finishes in Marrakech, Casablanca or Fes often create the strongest route and may suit open-jaw flights.
Are city guides included?
We recommend licensed local guides for Tangier, Fes and Marrakech. Your proposal will state clearly which guided visits are included.
Are the tours private?
Most Tangier departures are private, with route, vehicle and hotel level matched to your party.
