Marrakech → Aït Ben Haddou → Zagora — Follow the Mountains into the Draa
We leave Marrakech early and cross the High Atlas while the road is still relatively quiet. The climb over Tizi n’Tichka is not treated as empty transfer time; we use a small number of useful viewpoints and comfort stops, keeping the day moving because the Draa Valley is still far south.
Aït Ben Haddou is the main heritage stop. We walk into the earthen ksar and explain why these fortified settlements mattered on the old routes between the Sahara and Marrakech. A local guide can be added if you want deeper context; otherwise we keep the visit simple and unhurried.
After Ouarzazate we cross toward Agdz, where the Draa Valley begins to dominate the landscape. Palms, earthen villages and cultivated strips follow the river south. We continue to Zagora for dinner and the first night. This is already a full travel day, so the evening is kept calm rather than filled with another activity.
