13-Day Morocco Tour from Marrakech: Sahara, Fes & Chefchaouen

Start south, reach the Sahara early, then work north through Fes and the Rif before closing the loop along Morocco’s Atlantic cities — a useful alternative to the usual Casablanca-to-Marrakech direction.

This loop is designed for travelers arriving in Marrakech who still want to see the Sahara, Fes and Chefchaouen without repositioning to Casablanca first. Two Marrakech nights at the start give the city proper attention before the route crosses the High Atlas, Aït Ben Haddou, Dadès and Todra to Erg Chebbi. A full desert circuit and camp night are followed by the long but scenic journey north through the Ziz Valley and Middle Atlas to Fes.

After Fes, the route turns into the Rif for two nights in Chefchaouen, then descends through Rabat, Casablanca and El Jadida. The final Atlantic section is not filler: Rabat adds the national capital, Casablanca brings the Hassan II Mosque and modern cityscape, while El Jadida provides Portuguese-Moroccan heritage before the return to Casablanca.
